Two gay sex buddies, with obsessions for the macabre, decide to bring their fantasies to life. Too much talking about Jeffrey Dahmer and George Romero’s Dawn of the Dead can get old, so these two buds decide its time to grab sex lube and a baseball bat. Sodomy, Voodoo and Ivy League conspiracy societies throughout, can it get any scarier than this?

Director and writer T.S. Slaughter took it upon himself to create a Leopold and Loeb scenario for a new generation of Americans. But these less than privileged gay killers are out for class revenge. Skull & Bones is a film that is just as political as it is deranged. It wouldn’t be surprising if T.S. Slaughter is now on some government watch list.

The film is named after the secret society at Yale University that practices Masonic style rituals. Bonesman include: George W. Bush, John Kerry, Bill Clinton and other well known politicians. Skull & Bones takes the next generation of members and tortures, rapes, and castrates them. Angered by high class pretensions during a bar conversation, two gay sex buddies decide to follow in the footsteps of some of their favorite serial killers.

These young men have sexual fetishes that can only be seen in their favorite Wes Craven flicks such as Last House on the Left and The Serpent and the Rainbow. The lovers also decide to take some cues from Jeffrey Dahmer by creating a sex slave zombie. Although ordinary looking, the two killers make you understand why killers like Jason Voorhees are boring. These killers bring you your worst nightmares and fears to life, all for good fun.Skull & Bones is obviously a low budget picture, featuring bad sound, over acting, limited set design and effects. T.S. Slaughter was able to make up for it with decent writing, horror/serial killer trivia obsessed dialogue and creepy situations. Skull & Bones goes the distance with influences ranging all the way from early John Water’s films(Pink Flamingos, Desperate Living) to Tobe Hooper’s Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

The score in Skull & Bones is forgettable and almost inaudible. I would have to say that is the biggest flaw with the film. This is almost unnoticeable with bad sound design. Don’t worry though, the films that inspired Skull & Bones had the same problem. In the end, these auditory blemishes detract little from the quality and focus of the film.

Living in the age of the internet, conspiracy theories have hit an all-time popularity. I never thought I would see the day a gay serial killer duo were out to brutally rape and destroy new members of one of the biggest conspiracy mason groups. T.S. Slaughter proves that with imaginative and creating writing, you can create an entertaining and original film even with a small budget.

Skull & Bones is distributed through BTB productions. The DVD is barebones featuring only the film and a trailer. It would be interesting to find out more about it and its production. Luckily, their website features more information about the film.

Skull & Bones is a worthy introduction for writer and director T.S. Slaughter. It features intelligence, originality and creativity rarely seen in the overflowing amount of horror films being released today. It also defies political correctness in a time in which that can be a liability. Expect nightmares for months to come!
